Final Class of the Day!

It's the final class of the day!

"How to Get on Page One of Google" by John Pulley of Dealer Marketing Systems was my choice to end the classroom sessions today. Then it's off to the Recharger Reader's Choice Awards ceremony. For those of you heading to the Reader's Choice Award Ceremony, be on the lookout for InkCycle staff members: Carl Little, Jason Troupe, Jason Clover and Chad Seal. The FIRST person to introduce themself and hand over a business card will be handed a crisp TWENTY dollar bill by the staff member! Each of them has the ability to fork over the cash, so when you get to the RCA ceremony at 4:30 (and NO EARLIER), be sure to introduce yourself. Who knows? You might be the first to score a freshly printed Andrew Jackson from InkCycle!

John has some great advice about web searches and search engine optimization. It's important to be on page one in a Google search because 98% of people never go past page one once the results come up. But we (dealers) need to be prepared for the long term journey... there is no silver bullet to get you at the top without hard work, paying for it, or a combination of both.

The main take away I'm hearing from John is that properly-configuring your website is key to getting your name indexed on Google. Remember to embed keywords in your website. Keep in mind that Flash and images are NOT indexable, so always use alternative text for images. It's the content that gets you found, so keep it fresh and relevant.

One more thing: Are you wondering how your website stacks up against your competition? Just stop by www.websitegrader.com and check it out. It's a great way to see how your site stacks up against the rest of the web.
