If you aren't in Orlando this weekend, you're missing out! Luckily, I'm braving the partly cloudly, almost 80 degree weather for you today to bring you an update on everything going on at the BTA Southeast Winter Break Event!
We started out this morning with a great keynote from Lexmark's Marty Canning, their president of Imaging Solutions and Services. Marty provided us some great information about their market penetration in Managed Services. He shared with us that Lexmark is focused on being a full scale consultant company - not just equipment and supplies. They are looking at software and IT companies to round out their offerings. There was mention of "fleet solutions" that tackle the idea of printing less and to the right device. Their Smart Fleet Solutions aims to harness the power in the "cloud" and manage every device.
Some other trends he expects to see includes cloud delivery/device management, consumerization of IT, business mobility, and sustainability is still a growing trend in the industry. One of my favorite stats, though, is that 86% of Fortune 500 companies have deployed iPads for their employees. That's a staggering number!
With over 50 dealers in attendance at this event, it proves to be a great opportunity for networking with many different dealers. I have already spoken with several dealers who have learned from their peers - whether it was a money-saving tip, or just a better way to encourage relationships with customers. The comraderie here is amazing!
As the day progresses, I will be uploading more posts about the educational sessions here in Orlando.
