Tribute to the "Ziglar Way"

We lost a sales legend yesterday.

At the age of 86, motivational speaker Zig Ziglar passed away.  It's easy to imagine that he touched the lives of millions of people with his clever anecdotes and colorful stories.  I know, he inspired the performance of many salespeople I've known. And I'm sure he will continue to do so with his homegrown style and motivational techniques through video and audio recordings for generations to come.

Here are a few of our favorite quotes from Zig:
- "If you learn from defeat, you haven't really lost."
- "You will get all you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want."
- "Stop selling. Start helping."
- "Timid salemen have skinny kids."

Whether Zig impacted you directly, or perhaps you just listened to one of his cassette tapes (yes, I'm old enough to have listened to cassette tapes... in my car, and on my Walkman), there is no doubt that the "saleman's salesman" is definately a part of the sales culture.

Thanks, Zig. Your legacy will live on.

  1. I had his tapes in my car my whole selling career while I sold or managed people selling office equipment. He inspired me with his selling strategies and his constant excitement about sales and life. I have read at least half of his books and still look to him for inspiration when I get down. - Carl

  2. For me, I have found great advice in Zigs advice that you can get what you want by helping others get what they want. He always put others above himself and I admire this and try to emulate.
